Individual Project 2015

At the end of my Foundation Degree my final module was to work from an original costume design from a feature film.  The film I chose was Mirror Mirror (2012) and the costume design for the Evil Queen by Eiko Ishioka.

Working from the Eiko Ishioka’s costume design for Mirror, Mirror (2012), this is the costume that the Queen wears into the ballroom scene.  The costume is inspired by the idea of a hybrid, creating an amalgamation of many aspects of historical dress from the Elizabethan to the Victorian era.  The skirt is supported by a crinoline/pannier hybrid and an additional petticoat.

As part of the project I also filmed a short film to display the movement of the costume, which can be seen on the home page.
